Carlyle Real Estate signs new leases of 8 000 sqm with the Stockholm Fashion District

The global asset manager, The Carlyle Group, has signed agreements of leasing 8 000 sqm to the fashion industry in a cooperation with the Agency companies that are founding the Stockholm Fashion District and a showroom-house in Nacka strand. The fashion industry in Sweden will thereby get its own district. This new agreement will enable around fifty fashion companies to establish showrooms in Nacka Strand.

Nacka strand is in an exciting period of rapid development. Stockholm Fashion District that is now being established here is a modern, dynamic and innovative trade place for the future fashion trade. The industry organization Agencycompanies already has a 4 000 sqm showroom house for shoes in Nacka Strand and they operate various fashionrelated fairs in Nacka Strand. With the new showroom house for clothing manufacturing, Stockholm Showrooms, the area will be complete.

– Stockholm Fashion District is created for buyers and sellers of leading Swedish and international brands. The initiative comes from the fashion industry together with the Agencycompanies and Carlyle. We are happy to have both Nacka municipality and Carlyle with us that want to make an effort to develop the fashion industry together with us, says Helena Waker, CEO of Stockholm Fashion District.

The Nacka Strand area was acquired by Carlyle in the beginning of 2012 and right now an extensive development of the area is underway with new apartments, offices, schools and restaurants. Together with the municipality there are plans to develop the area further to make it more attractive and lively, both for residents and visitors. Last week the Council of Nacka approved zoning plans of approx. 480 apartments.

– Nacka strand will become a lively district with a good mix of small and middle sized tenants, but also apartments and other commercial services. The beautiful location next to the water in combination with good communications, closeness to shopping and also to Stockholm city leads to a very big interest in renting premises. The vision is to make the area into an even livelier district and we see great potential for more potential tenants. We are very satisfied with the new agreement with the Agency companies, which we see as a receipt for our work in making Nacka Strand become an attractive alternative for companies, says Henrik Orrbeck, Head of Nordics for Carlyle Real Estate.

Carlyle Group has hired TAM Group for development and management of the Nacka Strand area.
